"We revisited The Plough to celebrate a 45th birthday and an engagement. It had been a while and we were looking forward to our return. From the moment we entered we knew we were going to enjoy our day. The welcome from the staff was warm and genuine and our table for 13 was waiting. We were a bit early and while we were waiting for the others to arrive our delightful waitress, Michaela, brought us drinks and menus and spent a few moments chatting to us to ensure we didn't feel like "lonely little petunias". The menu at The Plough is splendid, something for everyone. Before the meal we were treated to lovely little appetisers, just bite sized to get the taste buds warmed up. The entrees we shared included the delicious arancini bites with basil aioli, a trio of dips with ciabatta bread and a yummy chicken and pistachio terrine. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced. I was driving so didn't imbibe, but the sighs from the others indicated a fine sav blanc or two. The Thai red beef curry was delicious, just the right amount of heat, the beef tender the rice perfectly cooked. The calamari was lovely, tender morsels delightfully coated with salt and pepper and served with crispy chips, yummo. The 36 hour beef just melted in the mouth and the chicken with panko crumbs and garlic butter was really lovely. A special word about the mash .. creamy, unctuous, just give me a bowlful of mash!! Then of course it was dessert time. Oh my, I had the Pina Colada coconut panna cotta with pineapple sorbet and almond biscuit. Silky smooth panna cotta, tangy sorbet and little chunks of pineapple in syrup .. sublime. Those with the Golden Gaytime with honeycomb and peanuts were moaning with pleasure and looking for superlatives, while the chocolate brownie experts swore it was the best ever tasted. The desserts were an absolute triumph. The delightful young staff who served at out table made everything a pleasure, and Michaela was a star. She was charming, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and what a memory! A real asset. Thank you to The Plough, you gave us a truly wonderful day. ps, great coffee too."
