we have been on the road from bsa on the X5H hiking trail to the hessian Swiss. the way is particularly well signposted from the Werratal-Therme to the castle it was approx. 1 h stramme migration. from the fishing house leads a well-running path (steiler away) upwards, which becomes only the final relatiw steep.The neo-gothic castle is impressive and in a quite good condition. from the terrace you have a breathtaking... read more.

What Albin Beier doesn't like about Schloss Rothestein:
we are lucky and got a sneak preview before they opened.nice place with great views!unfortuantely the opening ours (as of 1400hrs daily) are a bit weired - especially as the gate at the bottom of the mountain was open.... and 15min drive over a difficult potholed road we ended up in front of the closed gate at the castle - with a sign ' open as of 1400hrs'. read more.
