"2020 Service and food quality has really gone down hill. Used to be a favourite, but I don't think I'll be back. update 28/09/22 Got takeaway last night thought I'd give it another go seeing as it's been 2 years... no improvement. In fact, it's worse. After watching no less than four orders after mine get served 1st (mine had quite obviously been forgotten), I received lackluster, bland food... Given that a regular size box of Nasi Rice is almost $20, I would expect a LOT more. It tasted like someone just poured a bunch of curry powder over rice. Online delivery service orders seemed to be the priority, whilst people who actually went in store were put to the end of the queue."

"We booked for a Friday lunch which was not essential as for most of 2 hours we were there we were the only patrons.We had the fish which was nice but you had to order sides to make a meal of it. Good and reasonable wine list.Beautifully presented but a little overpriced for lunch."

"We are all dining in Covid times, that does not mean that customers are treated without respect. After rudely being asked for ID the six of us were sat down. Waitress finely came to see us. Took our orders, food arrived it was ok with good flavour. However three orders were wrong, waitress blamed the kitchen. After mains we waited for the waitress she finely came and dumped the bill and said your time is up! We took the later sitting so we didn’t have to rush our food down. I said we want dessert, she said too late time to leave. I said we really wanted dessert, the reply. Kitchen is closed! When I said why weren’t we offered dessert, the reply, we forgot. I then went to pay and the older women yelled at me, “wrong place go to the front. The six of us are foodies and we will not be back. We will head across the road where we are welcome."

"While myself company were enjoying the somewhat pleasant lunchtime atmosphere at Dyers (sic. yesterday, the chef and a waitress took up their metaphorical soap boxes at the kitchen/dining room window launched into an inappropriate discussion on their personal workplace issues, scathing grievances mutually shared disgruntled feelings against their current employers, ‘owners’ other employees of this very same establishment (the personal names which were brandied about -withheld here for the sake of dignity . In such a quiet dining room with it’s intimate aesthetic barely another customer present, we couldn’t help but overhear every sorry detail. This we were subjected to throughout our entire meal, until it became thoroughly too difficult for us (but not them, mind you! to swallow. Surely it would behoove said chef to harness such gauche displays, particularly while preparing his own bread and butter. At least try to herd his obvious culinary talent into lulling the true beast that resides within him. Or maybe even get real creative add a harmless bowl of chips (or even a green salad for Pete’s sake! to his list of talents.Because let’s face it..excluding the forsaken, yet sacred Bovine catalogue, what’s left seems dated, cumbersome, beastly inflexible for a true visionary talent. Alas! To give credit where it’s due, the man can make mean steak! Unfortunately, the superb Eye Fillets he dished up on this occasion, felt sacrificial with every bite left nothing but a very bad taste in our mouths. Very distasteful. If that’s a glimpse into Dyers’ alleged wonderful reputation it’s self-proclaimed “fondly referred to in Ballarat’s elite’(sic. class as an Institution”, NO THANKS! How sickening. Huge FAUX PAS. Big, hefty, stinking, HUGE!"

"If I lived in Ballarat, I would come here every evening…except Monday and Tuesday when I would camp outside until the place opened 4pm Wednesday… Fantastic food…warm, inviting, rustic/eclectic atmosphere…great music…brilliant selection of beer! My kind of third place!"
