The Charmery - Baltimore

One of Baltimore’s staples, very interesting flavors and ice cream is very good and they serve great portions. Great waffle cones (my favorite! .The flavor of ice cream I picked tasted a bit diluted, and it’s still quite pricey for ice cream.

German tourist p.o.v.:Great Ice cream!They have interesting flavors with funny names and they let you taste it before you choose.But since a scoop costs about 6$, which I find crazy, it was probably the first and last time for me to get ice cream in the U.S.

I'm going to.gice the Charmery 5 stars because it's a beloved spot in Hampden for a reason. But I do with they would offer more vegan options. It's always a sorbet and one ice cream, and they're always non adventurous flavors unlike the dairy options. I was also surprised to see that a recent tahini ice cream was not vegan. It should be really easy to make a sesame based ice cream vegan, and that's the kind of interesting vegan option I'd be looking for. That said, my omnivorous friends love the place! And everyone who works there is always lovely and friendly. I can also bring my dog inside, which is an added bonus.

The ice cream was not as good as expected. The ice cream was rather expensive. You can get 2 1/2 gallons of Briars ice cream and it tastes better for $8.00 at the Giant. The Charmery charges too much for a scoop of ice cream. One scoop of ice cream was 5.80. 2 scoops $6.00. If you wanted 3 scoops, it was $9.00 a scoop. I had strawberry Birthday cake. The Birthday cake barely tasted like birthday cake. It only tasted like vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. Was not impressed with the Strawberry either. Breyers ice cream tastes like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry because it has real milk in it. My husband and my brother said the same thing. Ice cream does not t as ste like ice cream unless it has Real Milk in it! Briars Hagen Das would be worth your money well spent. It can be purchased at Giant for Briars Ice Cream (2) for $8.00. Cheaper and more satisfying.

Unfortunately the ice cream has decreased in quality (not creamy, melts quickly) and also now with tiny scoop size. Charmery used to be a treat but no longer… there is a reason why Takara Brothers is now the best ice cream in Baltimore.
