We spent 2 nights here and were very pleased with the comfort and the quality of the room and facilities, The room rate included breakfast from 7am to 10am and there was a very good choice of meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal, boiled eggs etc. The lady in attendance at breakfast was perfectly charming and so obliging! What Ferdinand John doesn't like about Brauereigasthof Faessla:
I had hoped to sample the beer and eat dinner here. I arrived at 5 pm and was greeted with a reserved sign on every empty table and a really bad vibe coming from the rest. The lone female bartender was conversing with a local cop, who also gave me stink eye. The bartender never made eye contact or acknowledged me in any way. One of the drunken (at 5 pm) middle aged locals did acknowledge me and shouted an insult in i... View all feedback.

We had a very positive experience staying here and would not hesitate to recommend it.We dined here as well on two occasions and were very pleased with the choice of hearty main meals as well as lighter snacks. Being a brewery the beer did not disappoint! No toiletries are provided nor is there a hairdryer in the room so bring your own.
This is a somewhat hectic place with the beer and food worth it for us. We (4) lucked out getting a table soon after arriving but I was eager and gracious with patrons and staff in sharing a table with another couple. They/we were talkative and enjoyable without being overbearing. Food was excellent german style with good portions and selections. Beer brewed in the back building was FRESH and oh so good.
Old brewery place with added hotel rooms above. Very German menu and very good Faessla beer. Primitive, but a good place to visit.
Very friendly place, seems to attract a lot of locals compared to some of the other local breweries. In terms of beer, to me this place is all about the Pilsner... yummy :) The restaurant food is pretty good as well, but I typically opt for elsewhere.
Located not far from the train station, this stop was a great success. Of all the breweries we visited or tried, this was one of my favorites for the beer. You can actually see the brewery and loading from behind the restaurant as well. The atmosphere was quaint, visited by mostly locals, and the food was solid German fare. Staff was nice and English friendly. Seemed like a simple lunch spot for a family as well. Affordable and I would recommend it to others visiting Bamberg if you are willing to walk about ten minutes outside of the old town or just arriving in off the train.
