What Roger C likes about Island Gate:
This is a Cork classic for travellers on the old main road to Youghal Waterford. Now a bypass avoids it, which makes it quieter. Good selection of Carvery and other lunchtime favourites which is when I visited it . Swift service and great staff. Out of the City so free ample parking, put it in your Sat Nav to find it as bypass gets in the way. A living eatery of Cork with proven reputation. View all feedback. What williamCarrigaline doesn't like about Island Gate:
We recently had a party of more than 20 people at this restaurant and everyone was happy with their meal. The establishment could use some tender loving care, especially a new carpet. View all feedback.

read moreNestled off the beaten path, this Cork restaurant is a nostalgic gem, known for its hearty carvery and attentive staff. While recent visits revealed a charming yet dated decor, the quality of the food received mixed reviews. Diners praised the genuine warmth of the service, especially during busy lunch hours. However, some dishes fell short of expectations, with complaints about overcooked items and lack of freshness. Despite these setbacks, the warm atmosphere and ample parking make it a convenient stop for families. With a little reinvigoration, this eatery could reclaim its status as a beloved local classic.
