3 people attending a small restaurant. Initially had the place to ourselves but rapidly all tables taken. Good menu based on Italian cuisine Entree a Bruchetta which was Pizza based. Mains were one seafood platter, one salt and pepper Calamari and one rare mushroom steak Everything was well cooked served hot plenty of it and the Calamari as tender as I hsve ever had Too full for desert and the plates went back not empty.
What User doesn't like about Clay Oven Woodfired Cafe:
Thought we would give it a go, have to say the pizza was very ordinary, not much flavour at all, jammed in like sardines, very cold every time the door opened, bench seating very uncomfortable, took ages to get a drink ordered & the table was so small when the pizza was put down there was little room for the plates, won't be back!!! I had a negative experience at this restaurant during my last visit due to poor treatment, but all is forgiven after a recent visit post-COVID-19 lockdowns. It was a pleasure to see that the restaurant management was in a relaxed and friendly mood once again. The food was just as delicious as before, and all of our ordered dishes were well-received and enjoyed. My husband's chicken parma was both huge and tasty. Although my order did not arrive as described (Eggs Florentine with English muffins instead of Artisan bread), the mistake was quickly rectified without any fuss. The owner mentioned that they had recently switched to serving muffins like other establishments. It would be helpful to update the menu description or inform customers of any changes when they place an order to avoid similar issues in the future. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with good service and a happy return visit.
Been coming here since it opened back in about 2014. Clay Oven is a true hidden gem tucked away in the leafy, rolling hills area of Greens Hills, Greensborough. Fabulous consistent food, great, attentive service and a friendly owner. The menu style is Portuguese/Mediterranean style with clay oven pizzas included.
This little restaurant is situated in a suburb neighborhood, the store owner is also the pizza chef. The warm veg salad is a must try, especially in a cold and windy night. Carbonara is tasty and moist. Of course the wood fire pizzas are the best, fresh ingredients and freshly baked in the clay oven.
I had the chilli prawn pizza was fantastic also good coffee served here my son also had a pizza and very happy with his choice . Very fresh ingredients and pizza base just perfect
I ordered two big pizzas for a crazy $43. We were looking forward to a Saturday contract and when we opened the boxes at home, we were really disappointed. This is not what you expect to be a wild pizza and not for the money we paid. Overpriced and used cheap ingredients and both pizzas were covered with raw onion. A $5 pizza from Dominoes is better than what we were serving. In addition, the owner and the staff did not wear masks properly, the other 2 co-owners in the store did not wear masks at all. Disappointed. Avoid. There are much better pizza shops.
