My mother and I arrived to stay in Raval and on our first night wanted to stay local and had heard that Raval was a cool place to go out. Even on a Monday there was a buzz in the neighbourhood. We wanted somewhere not too hip to have a drink and tapas in a nice (not too hip) ambience. Casa Almirall seemed to fit the bill.
