Good service, good food. Too bad that in the choice has the card we can not just take an entry. Yet we saw the plate we wanted, and she was well-stocked. As a result, the dish is hard to pass in the proper sense of the term, because not adapted to our hunger. Otherwise it's nice. View all feedback.
We went there again 2 times during our holiday this year. Really an amazing chef. One small thing but not dramatic: personnel change is not a success in my point of view but quality of food makes up everything.
We spent some time in Barjec twice a year and always eat there a couple of times. Last year we arrived when the kitchen was just closing. The waitress told us we could not eat anymore. 2 minutes later the chef stops by at our table and offers to make us a couple of nice salads. I can assure you: nice was an understatement. On other occasions we we blown away by the chef's creations. He certainly is at a level of 2 michelin stars and you can see he loves what he is doing.
Belgium restaurant with good quality food. Since it was a special night we could only choose a limited selection of main courses and desserts, no starter. The place is Nice, the service was friendly and personal and the dishes were good.
Having passed the restaurant many times in the past months and stopped for a drink in the bar, we decided to book for lunch (advisable). As it was a weekend, there was a set menu with a choice of courses plus a limited a la carte option. The food was well-executed and straightforward. It was neither more or less than one would expect of brasserie food. The service was very good from both the waitress and the proprietor. My only complaint was that it was a bit expensive for what it was; 27 euros for three good but unexceptional courses is at the upper level for a restaurant of this type. The location is very pleasant and the upgrading of the bar and restaurant by, the relatively new, owners is to be welcomed by those who knew it in its earlier existence.
The restaurant at the Hotel du Centre has always been a place where you could pick up a simple meal, some times less ordinary than others. But when we arrived in Barjac this year, we immediately noticed how the building had been spruced up and that the restaurant and bar were hopping. We booked for dinner that night. What a delight! Laetitia Gerants and Theirrry Lemaire, the new proprietors, are passionate about the food they serve and about their clients. Laetitia described their cooking as the simply prepared fresh foods they like to eat themselves. I would call it much more successfully ambitious than that! My husband was ecstatic over his order of simple steak frites which brought him Charolais beef with an addictive sauce, the beef he claimed some of the best he has ever had! In a simple village restaurant, this is a fantastic statement! But he stands by it. And our tab was miniscule. We had already booked for the next night, but returned for an equally fine meal on our third evening. We wish Laetitia and Thierry all the success in the world. They put their hearts on the plate. You can't ask for more.
