A nice pub in the centre of Barnsley, serving ales from Acorn brewery, plus a selction of others also on hand-pull tinned craft beers. The old fashioned (a compliment! wooden fixtures give the place plenty of character. A pleasant surprise was the Celtic music `session` that takes place from 1pm on Sundays and which provided some good music to go with the good ale. View all feedback. We were there in Oct 2021, when takeover was about to happen. Pub bought from brewery. Cocky staff. One old face! One beer (IPA with no! mega cloudy. Changed, eventually and one of old standard Acorns was rite! All doors open; easier for staff to go to cellar. But punters shivering! Heating off, so no surprise! Turners porkies on offer £1.40. Really gone downhill, don't sell thirds, dogs peeing against tables, place stinks a d can't even serve real ale in a proper glass! Ruined!
