"On a wander round haunts of long ago, was disappointed with the Pheasant, which had run out of Guinness, charm, and, it seemed, hope. But no sooner had I left to plod sadly back into town than I came by this small cafe. Decided to revive my spirits with a coffee. Inside was greeted by the proprietress, a most welcoming, smart, erudite Brazilian. A Brazilian coffee shop on Mount Pleasant, Reading! Wonders will never cease. Of course, being Brazilian, Pau Brasil sold wonderful cakes. I asked about them, and the lady described the displayed delights enticingly. I couldn’t resist and took a seat outside on one of the two tables. Well, my cake was terrific–think it was called Ladrez or something–a sponge with chocolate chequers round the edges. Coffee excellent too. Pau Brasil had triggered a moment of Zen. The lady chatted to me out front and, when I asked, explained why the shop is called Pau Brasil, which involved a fascinating slice of cultural history. At the end, she said, “Thank you for being interested”. Que senhora maravilhosa! She and Pau Brasil made my day."

"Lovely little tearoom on the Alresford high street. I had the Watercress afternoon tea but they allowed me to change to the egg and watercress sandwich to another on their menu it'd be nice if this had been an option from the off, but no complaints considering they allowed for this anyway. I loved the selection of teas also (there are about 2 3 pages of various blends and flavours); it really made it feel like these guys know their tea. Next time i go i will be bringing back some Russian Caravan! Looking forward to coming back again soon."

"Was an interesting experience. Not the traditional Thai restaurant many will be use to. They are more of an luxury authentic Thai experience not expected in Alton definitely similar to some London restaurants. The food is amazing but does take a while to be served as cooked fresh. For my teens the was menu restricted as they are use to pad Thai, authentic prawn crackers, red curry, massaman, panang etc. with the option of having the dishes with chicken. Menu is great for seafood lovers including myself. For me the restaurant is perfect for a date night or with groups of adults. The price of the dishes is on the higher end, this is expected as using good quality ingredients and really well presented dishes. I did miss the prawn crackers and the option to have flat rice noodles. 4 starters, 4 mains and drinks came to around £120. Two teens and two adults. Definitely will go again. You should try it. "Very Disappointed, came here today to have the big pan special which is Yellow Thai, which i normally enjoy so much and always come to have this for my lunch, well today i wished i did NOT bother, it taste nothing like it usually does, seamed missing the taste it normally has and also was extremely oily runny looking, then the amount of Yellow Thai i got compered to the rice was a joke, hardly any meat in the ridiculous tiny spoon of food the lady serving gave me. so not only did my lunch taste disgusting i basically was given rice and the tiny amount of pan, nothing like i normally received rather upsetting and disappointed i wasted my lunch break walking down to you today, not sure if the lady that served me is new to the job or what but today's vist has left me very disappointed to be given what i did today compered to my usual Yellow Thai vists, both the taste and the amount given needs to be fixed please improve this for next time"
