This was my first experience at a hot pot Asian restaurant. Went to their Bay Shore location. It did not disappoint. Plenty of food and a great experience cooking it at the table. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive as well. I 'd definitely go back.I may try the Smithtown location next. View all feedback.
We had a reservation for 3 people, but I brought an extra guest, making a total of 4. The restaurant was kind enough to accommodate the additional person. As soon as we walked in, we could smell the delicious aroma of Korean BBQ, which got us all excited. They offered an all-you-can-eat option for both soup and BBQ, which was fantastic. Just a heads up, everyone in the group has to agree to order soup, you can't just have one person order it while others get BBQ. We all decided to go with BBQ, and the menu had a great selection of meats to choose from. Our waiter was nice, but it seemed like he was more attentive to other tables as they received their meats and vegetables faster than we did. Whenever he did come back, he would bring the meats promptly, but we had to wait for him for around 15-20 minutes each time we needed more. So make sure to order plenty of meat at once because it can take a while for it to come back. The drinks were fantastic, and the food was delicious with a lot of flavorful spices. By the time our 90 minutes were up, we had spent about 30 minutes just waiting for our meats to be replenished.
I took my mom to this restaurant for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. I have been to similar places in the city and when I lived in Japan. Our server was excellent and the food was marinated perfectly. Our only issue was that we may have ordered a bit too much! I highly recommend the chili pork belly and ribeye cubes. I was thrilled to see takoyaki as one of their appetizers, as it's one of my favorite foods. It was my mom's first time trying it and she couldn't get enough. The tables were a bit small, so it was a little challenging to balance our food with a larger party of 3 or more (though this is a common issue for these types of establishments). Luckily, they have a cart on hand to help with that. We are looking forward to returning soon!
I had a fantastic first experience at JBBQ! The food was incredibly delicious and they give you a generous amount for the all-you-can-eat price. It was a fun experience to cook our own food at the table. Just a few things to keep in mind before going: they do not take reservations for parties of only 2 people, everyone at the table must order the hot pot and BBQ price, and the portions are big so be mindful of how much meat you order. The sauces and appetizers were also delicious and included in the all-you-can-eat price. The staff was attentive and helpful with cooking times. JBBQ is a great spot for a date night or double date. I will definitely be returning in the future.
Great interactive, family experience. Clean restaurant, staff is pleasant. Just make sure when you add the BBQ option Yo wait until your plate is hot enough to put the meats on. Cold metal will steam not Grill.
