"Often when I have dinner out I struggled to find something on the menu that sounds appealing; not so at the North Eastern Hotel. Wonderful selection of meals and my meal on the first night was so enjoyable that we came back again on our second night in Benalla. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious food."

"Great place to stop for lunch. I had a sandwich for less than $8 with fresh delicious ingredients. Braed was perfect. Unfortunately they need to move away from mass produced and tasteless cakes. I've seen them at other bakeries in vic. No need for a beautiful country town bakery to sell them."

"It's a strange thing to find excellent Indian in Benalla when it's so hard to find in larger centres. We started with tandoori mushrooms, which were delicious and had a really nice korma for mains. Mango lassi was good, as was the naan (a defining feature of good Indian! ) highly recommended."
