"First visit to this place last night with my brother, its a little gem, tentative staff, freindly and polite but best of all the food was totally delicious, no long wait time for food a relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices, also very clean with upstairs kitchen on show, always a good sign."

"Sorry Cafe Velo. I say sorry because we are regular customers. The last visit on a Saturday morning just before lunch we thought the Cafe Gloomy and quiet. The full English was ok but not exceptional. The service was ok but normally there's a nice vibe even if your not a cyclist. On a previous visit we commented on the table being sticky. We were informed it was the type of varnish on the table. on this occasion the tables are still sticky. not nice and needs addressing."

"The food was tasty. The waitress unfriendly, unwelcoming and had very little table etiquette and for this reason I will not be returning. Her demeanor was as if she could not be bothered to serve us. Due to severe health problems this was supposed to be a rare treat for me. Very disappointed."

"Always a friendly welcome and freshly cooked simple and delicious food (hot and crispy chips a speciality) and tea from a pot. Interesting Hull thematized memory of the walls. This is really a place for local people, but I recommend all visitors Hull who want to avoid the chains and support genuine Hull food to make coffee 31 for lunch or tea and a cake (the coffee is Lavazza the best from Turin)."

"I ordered chicken strips and a vanilla milkshake The chicken strips were dry flavourless and tasted like they were made days ago. The batter was chewy rather than crispy. For £7.50 for 6 I was expecting something pretty special. The milkshake actually tasted pretty good but £4.50 for a pre made milkshake lined up in the fridge that was no bigger than 400ml is a massive rip-off I should have gone to McDonald’s Definitely won’t be going back"
