I was stood up by a friend earlier and decided to console myself. So I came to Ashoka, which had been recommended by a knowledgable local in McLeod Ganj. Chicken Tikka Masala was rich and full of complex flavours, though not as spicy as expected. Garlic Naan was great. All in all first-rate, but somehow not outstanding -- and slightly expensive for the area. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be amazed either. read more.

Nice restaurant, with speedy service. Ordered finger chips - very tasty. Falafel- nice. Veg chowmein- good. But the veg jaipuira curry was inedible as it was so very sweet - and I can usually eat almost anything. Very disappointing, especially as my curry was virtually untouched and the waiter didn't comment at all. Would not return. read more.

"A basic restaurant. Not too sure why everyone seems to love it. It's a fairly unclean place, including the table cloths, menus and general sitting space the same. Small menu and food is brought out too fast. Ordered veg curry and rice. Some of it was cold and it was literally presented as someone vomited on a plate. Just dropped all over the plate, like it was prison food. No one seems to really care much, staff wise. The food is cheap enough. That's about the only upside, but dont expect much else here."
