City: BARDI (near BORGO VAL DI TARO), Via Giordani, 9, Bardi, Italy, 43032, BARDI
"This is the best restaurant in Bardi by far and also dor quite some distance. The ambience is lovely, the decor very beautiful and the food is a notch above all the other trattorias in the area. The staff are helpful and attentive. The external seating is also lovely so it’s hard to choose whether to sit inside or outside, if you do sit outside you have amazing views of the castle…and all very reasonably priced for homemade food and pasta."

City: PONTREMOLI (near BORGO VAL DI TARO), P.zzetta S. Cristina, Pontremoli, Italy, 54027, PONTREMOLI
"We pulled off the freeway to find lunch and were so happy to discover this interesting little restaurant. The server confirmed we couldn't read Italian before she ever set down menus; so she cut to the chase and recited to us the mains they had on offer beef for two, lamb, rabbit, duck. The lamb was rich tasting and came with fries and a little salad. The rabbit was roasted in red wine sauce with pine nuts and was accompanied by garbanzo bean cakes cooked like polenta. The house red wine was very good quality. The chef came out to gather our plates and paused to explain that everywhere else in Italy, rabbit is cooked in white wine. Only in this region is it cooked in red wine. Nice place."
