in the village of Mayllezais, located in a very tourist area in the summer, it is a good restaurant. We had the pleasure of lunch at the shaded terrace garden. we had chosen regional specialities. It was not high gastronomy but it was correct for a reasonable price. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about L'Auberge de L'Abbaye:
being on a visit to the abbey, I looked at the reviews on the site and started with my wife and child (5 years old) the restaurant was full to crack! we ate at our hunger and in time. But I advise you if you go to be surprised by the dishes served. **** stone. View all feedback.
This is a very popular Auberge mostly used by locals. There is a lunch menu you can order from or you can do what we did which was have the 'menu of the day.' This is 5 courses for €11. For that you get a home made pate starter, a salad, main course (chicken
The kitchen is good. the fast service and the correct rates. attention to the tasks of grapes outside.
In the middle of the poitevin marsh, it was nice to find by chance this shaded place at the foot of a barge and abbey. the chief of rank, in this case, a chief, has a huge merit, that of dealing with demand efficiently. the place is indeed frequented by a rather old clientele who of course wants to eat at noon even if it has not booked! When it is not families that require to be put to a place immediately! and in August of course! and the service follows with efficiency and kindness. As for dishes, you will have the choice between specialties (snails, frogs, ...) and pancakes. We're not gonna make fun of you.
Despite a morning reservation for a place of choice, we sit on a small wooden bench between room/terrace and kitchen or in the middle of the way...The choice is quickly made because the menu is quite simple and the kitchen also .peu of flavor but passable. the service is good but not easy despite the forced smiles of the waitress who feel overwhelmed by the service! Moreover, the effluves of the "creved fish" regularly come to scent our table.I looked beautifully, I do not find the reason and because of the well being of the customers, I signal it.I am told that we can not do otherwise because the sceptical pit is under the terrace and after the few showers, there are hints as soon as it is a little hot. Then we had a drink there in the evening before we went back to the road. we could sit under the tone. The service was smashed.. we could have left without paying because nobody cared about us. The smell problem was known as a regular to simply poured a little water on the drain plate to make an impermeable seal to odors. We would have enjoyed it at noon!
Very good value quality price. well located near the abbey of Mayllezais, the terrace is well shaded and quiet. generous kitchen although a little rich. beautiful place to recover after a walk in the Poitevin marsh.
