"East Kent Triumph MCC planned a day trip over to France to visit Atlantic Wall Batterie Todt Museum. After reading many Trip advisor reviews on local resturants and places to eat, we decided on La Table Du Beffroi in Bolougne old town. With a few emails it was booked and Thomas was aware that one of our members has a bad Gluten intolerance ... no problem we can cater for this was the reply we wanted. Mussels in leek white wine sauce Brouchette de Beef Fish steak all in lovely sauces with crispy chips were all cook to perfection. Deserts were Ice cream of all flavours. We fully recommend this friendly and family run resturant with its relaxed atmostphere it 's beautiful setting in Old Town Bolougne next to the Residence car park and bandstand park square to everyone and everybody. We will be back for more 3 hour+ lunches !!! sitting out on your shaded decking area. Graeme Clark East Kent Triumph Owners Club"

"I chose this restaurant for my birthday lunch after sifting through those in the Pas de Calais with a Michelin bib gourmand I did quickly skim the rather mixed Trip Advisor reviews just before leaving home so was prepared for the slightly dingy exterior and...for the fact that the front room had armchairs for seats rather than traditional chairs. Parking was a slight issue, as we had dogs to leave in the car and like a quiet car park. However we found a suitable place in the street up from the Mairie. The restaurant is pretty inside, with an airy feel and a driftwood-y, seaside-ish atmosphere. We were pleasantly received, and invited to choose where we wanted to sit, so we picked a table in the very back section, which was quiet. (In the event, my partner found this area a bit cold on a chilly December day; maybe we should have gone for the middle section We chose the menu découverte and from the two choices per course went for the butternut squash soup with scallops and bacon X 2, followed by pig's cheek and roasted cod risotto. We were given a pre-starter of mushroom soup; slightly funny as we had both ordered soup as a starter anyway, but ok. However, I always expect those appetiser things to be zinging with intense flavours, but it was just mushroom soup nice, but no better than I might have cooked. Menu soup was similarly ok, though not a patch on my butternut squash soup with cumin and chili (thanks, Nigella The bacon bits gave an interesting bite' to it though, balancing the perfectly soft slices of scallop. Both the main courses were very dull-coloured; they could have done with at least a sprig of parsley to catch the eye. My cod was perfectly cooked, though the rice seemed more the taste and texture of pudding rice than the arborio rice traditional for risotto. The pork cheek was pronounced excellent. Cheeses were local, and good. The sole dessert was the same as on the cheapest menu du jour pear slices baked into an almond muffin. It was freshly cooked, and tasted fine but, again, I felt I could probably have produced that myself not what I had hoped for on a special birthday outing..."
