First time passing by Camp Hill Marketplace in search of takeaway lunch, and checked out Hatori Karaage.<br/ <br/ We had:<br/ spicy itame chicken, $16.50 stir fried protein with fresh veges lent a caramelised flavour with hint of spiciness, served on top of rice fresh lemon<br/ tori karaage, $8.90 crispy boneless chicken thigh based on soy sauce, served with mayo fresh lemon<br/ steam rice, $3<br/ <br/ That caramelisation smelled so good coming out of the kitchen, even with our food boxed up in the takeaway containers. I did think the prices were a touch pricey but was willing to give it a go cos my colleague has mentioned this place on multiple occasions as a highly recommended venue. Upon tasting I can only agree that the food was cooked well and had great flavour. Definite repeat visit option when I'm next in the area, and I'll have to try the miso karaage which my colleague says is the bomb.
The restaurant worker was quite welcoming and happy to accommodate a pram and high chair requirement. We sat inside as it was not busy when we went on a Monday evening. This place offers children eat free with a purchase of a full meal so we were happy. My daughter chose the udon noodles which was so good she actually ate it all (minus some veggies). They also offered her some colouring crayons which kept her busy for the entire meal. We ordered the aburi wagyu and the miso karaage. The wagyu was nice, not much wagyu though but it was sliced thinly for the searing. The miso karaage had good flavour but was missing the crunch you get from a normal karaage. The prices were very good for a modern Japanese restaurant and the location looked pretty new. We'd definitely go back to try other dishes.
I’d never heard about Hatori Karaage before, but luckily my best friend had!<br/ <br/ We ordered the agadashi tofu, eggplant karaage, aburi salmon, the spicy tofu itame and two Moscow mules.<br/ <br/ I really enjoyed the experience and for me, the star of the show was the eggplant karaage. I would firstly like to start by saying it is extremely difficult to locate places in Brisbane who serve eggplant and furthermore, it is even more difficult to find a place that does it well!! This eggplant magically managed to stay crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside for the entirety of our meal even though it had some sort of sauce on it. The portion size was also quite big so it was definitely good value for money!! <br/ <br/ The agadashi tofu was super yummy, my friend loved the spicy itame and I thought the aburi salmon was delicious. The accompanying miso soup was a nice touch. Finally, the drinks were super yummy!! Would definitely recommend grabbing one if you are over 18 !!<br/ <br/ I would definitely recommend coming here as I will be back for sure!! Enjoy <br/
Whilst looking for somewhere to eat on the way to a friend's place, I stumbled across this cute little Japanese restaurant. I hadn't been to the Whites Hill shops for a few years and was a little surprised about the building that had been erected over the carpark!<br/ <br/ Decor: modern and dark but relaxing and comfortable. Good date night space with touches of Japanese paraphernalia. <br/ <br/ Atmosphere: busy but not noisy (if you're sitting outside the reataurant the music from Mediterranean place is more likely to intrude). <br/ <br/ Food: <br/ Tori Karaage excellent, light crispy batter, well seasoned and juicy chicken. <br/ Miso Karaage quite good, the glaze was salty and sweet but dampened the crisp in the batter; I would prefer it as a dipping sauce. <br/ Taco Karaage quite good, smallish portion. <br/ Salmon sashimi quite good. Lovely presentation. <br/ Agedashi tofu excellent. Tofu was perfectly crisp and the dressing was beautifully savoury. Best one I've had!<br/ <br/ Service: super friendly and sweet. <br/ <br/ Verdict: good value for money and worth the trip! Looking forward to another visit.
This has become our second home.<br/ <br/ We love the eggplant karaage, don katsu set and the homemade lemonade. Amazing food! Loveliest service staff too!
