Located in charming downtown Breaux Bridge, Cafe des Amis is a must stop for a nice mealIt's only about a 5-6 minute drive from I 10.
We found this place and it was just what we needed We hate chains, and even more so when we travel.
Friday lunch, I suggest to my wife we go early to beat the rush (11:15am)When no one has food yet, it's a bad sign.

"I live in Baton Rouge. My son was visiting in Lafayette, and stopped by your bakery and bought the most DELISHIOUS tiny crayfish pies. They were really fantastic, especially the crust . . . so tender and light. I wanted to order some from y 'all, but your websites doesn 't seem to offer a delivery opiton. . .and in addition, I can 't find the little pies on the website. Do you have a menu with items such as the little crayfish pies, and send to Baton Rouge? I 'm 84, so doubt that I will be driving to Lafayette . . . even though I LOVE to come visit. "We went to La Carreta a few times and we usually enjoy it. The service can sometimes be concentrated with the staff to talk to each other instead of checking on their tables. Ordering my favorite thing is the Mahi-shrimp Ceviche, which is very good. They have bite large pieces of fish and shrimp with pieces cucumbers and mango marinated in lemon juice, so the acid cooks the seafood. It makes a light and refreshing meal. The rest of the food I have found to be a little hit or miss when the meat is dry and bland at times. In my opinion, it is your best Tex mex option in downtown."
