We both had a lamb shish kebab which was delicious and definitely not stingey with the meat either! Would 100% recommend if you're in the area and fancy a kebab. Only place to go. "We were trying to get into the cafe opposite as it had tables in the sun, and it wasn’t immediately obvious where the entrance to the Almshouse is (10 yards down street). The outside seating doesn’t look as appealing as it’s neighbor but once inside it’s a different story. A really nice menu with an excellent selection of cakes and sandwiches and great coffee, served by friendly staff. The Almshouse itself is really pretty inside, with a bookshop, and spiral staircase taking you to more seating. Next time we’re in Axbridge we’ll be heading straight there!"

"We made a special trip up for my son’s birthday and planned our whole day around having lunch here. I even messaged them the day before to double check they’d be doing food (to which they replied, “yes serving lunch from 12pm” . We arrived shortly after 1pm to be told there was no food this lunchtime as they had a private function on!! To say we were disappointed was an understatement. It put a downer on our day, made us rearrange our plans last minute and we had the inconvenience of then having to drive around looking for somewhere else to have a very late lunch with 3 hungry children in tow! It would of been understandable if we had just turned up but the fact I’d messaged the day before and been told they would be doing food, surely they knew they had a function on???!!"
