"We went right at 5 on Tuesday for dinner and business was really quiet. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable- loved the exposed brick and cool vibe going on. It definitely felt like more of bar type scene, probably more crowded in the late evening/weekends. The staff was really friendly knowledgable. We ordered two starters, the nachos buffalo wings. My husband loves wings and he really didn 't enjoy these. They were really soft and drenched in sauce. The nachos were really good, but be careful of the peppers- super hot!! We got the chicken caesar wrap caesar salad with anchovies, both were pretty basic. Good, but not great."

"Attentive staff and great food. Tracy spoke to me on the phone before hand and followed up with me to make the reservation. Our main courses were delicious, one of black bass, and the other of scallop risotto. We chose to sit inside due to rain but they had beautiful porch seating overlooking the brook. The staff, food, and atmosphere all made for a wonderful anniversary dinner. Service: 5"

"We stayed on two different occasions, both times in main house which, along with carriage house, are well removed from Rte 7 traffic. The rooms are very well kept and comfortable. Room 20 has a private deck and entry. Breakfast is all you can eat and delicious. Staff very helpful. They let us leave vehicle here while we did bike tour inn-to-inn. Lovely grounds, plenty of parking, walk to downtown. Have a dinner at Jessica's Restaurant if it's open! Reservations a must. I think this is likely the best lodging in Middlebury. Rooms: Good size and comfortable pillows. Note that rooms in the gate house are on Rte 7 and have traffic noise. Main house and carriage house are quiet Nearby activities: Middlebury College, museums, etc Walkability: Easy walk to college and town center.
