"I appreciated the authenticity of the place from the servers to the decors present. The short history of the founding of the restaurant was also available on the menu board. It was such a quick, good read. Right at the start, I love how hospitable they were in accommodating our seating request. We were a large group of 8 people with 1 baby so we needed 2 tables joined together. After pulling out a potted plant decor, we were able to have the 2 tables joined next to each other. We were tired from the long day by the time we arrived at Nakkon Thai so we just went with the Combos options. We chose D3 Combo (4-6 people) and added a couple more dishes. The quantity of the combo meal may have already been sufficient for 8 people not looking to eat a lot. The food was served fast, and we did not have to wait too long. That is as far as to the positive things I have to say of the place. The food was good, but not the best. I have tasted spicier (not hot), creamier, and more flavourful Thai dishes from other Thai restaurants. The curry sauce was not as thick and strong flavoured as I have come to expect for a Thai restaurant. I also would have loved it if the Tom Kha Chicken Soup was a little more hot sour."

"Dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On the patio. Another group celebrating an 80th Birthday. Excellent service. Great food and a good wine list. The menu is varied to suit many tastes. It was a magical evening!"

"First off, our barman/server/waiter was a gem. Affable, friendly, attentive, and it was just him serving everyone in the place. It wasn't too packed for a Sunday night, a couple of other families eating and some couples at the bar, but he (despite being the only front of the house staff) stopped to chat with everyone and was gracious and attentive. Service was top notch. Unfortunately, the kitchen couldn't live up to the staffing experience. Kids meals were free with and adult entree, and despite the massive size of the burger and overall quantity of food for our little one, beef was quite dry. Someone really wanted to make sure that it was cooked - and they succeeded! The shrimp scampi was average flavour, but quite gummy. The special - a steak on cheese garlic bread, topped with brushetta over promised, but under delivered. Steak was well done, not medium. Brushetta was barely seasoned. Garlic cheese bread and salad with balsamic was likely the save to balance out the blander elements. Best part of the menu? Dessert - rhubarb pie was flaky and warm, not too sweet or sour, and great a la mode.The drink selections are good, the service is great, but the food itself could unfortunately use some tweaks."

"Walked in on a walkabout and they took us right away and treated us very well. In spite of it being a busy evening for them, they took great care of us. Excellent wine, food and dessert to die for. Beautiful decor as well. Will definitely return on our next visit to Brockville!"

"In the sleepy little neighborhood we call Brockville, Ontario, Jon's Restaurant is historically located near two large train tracks that run along Perth Street. Ask any Brockvillian where to grab a hearty morning meal, and they will naturally point you in the direction of Jon's. The food is filling, the staff is attentive, the price point is affordable and parking is free, making this place a hungry patron's wish come true. Make no mistake, what seems like a quiet and unassuming brick red building actually holds a proud reputation for being the best breakfast nook in town. I've made the trip from Los Angeles to Brockville a handful of times and have become very acquainted with this quaint family restaurant. First introduced to the place by my Canadian honey, I was hooked after my first order of eggs and bacon, and gladly continue to come back for more. Recently refurbished, Jon's is updated with a flat screen television and a beautiful and less cluttered interior. However, even with the renovations, Jon's manages to hold onto that nostalgic and magical feeling of the Locomotive era. Model trains and rustic oil lamps decorate the upper walls while wooden tables and chairs sit along the newly varnished floors. At the front of the restaurant, bar stools rest snugly along the breakfast counter while a fireplace hibernates near the tables in the back. Regular diners tend to be made up of families and seniors, keeping the atmosphere both busy and friendly. The waiting staff never fails to greet their guests with a smile and the food reminds you of a true home cooked meal by your favorite grandmother (as in, the place generously incorporates butter and salt, so prepare your tastebuds)! Tea or coffee comes with most breakfast selections and a big blackboard along the dividing wall informs you of the ever-changing specials of the day. All in all, Jon's Restaurant is a true gem of Brockville. If you're ever in town, pull up a chair and grab a bite, or two."

"After reading reviews and talking to different people, I was anxious to try this place. First impression was good. It was open, airy, clean, and had a welcoming feel. Sadly, it went downhill after that. It must have been 'new staff day'. Very limited interaction, inability to answer questions, and no knowledge of the product offered. I was told their espresso machine was down and I could only have regular tea or coffee (customer after us was told the same thing yet a third customer - served by different staff - was able to get a latte.). No sparkling water. I ordered a small coffee for $2. They weren't kidding. It was small! We also ordered bagel and lox, a juice, and a bowl of Italian Wedding Soup. It took a little longer than I expected - the only 'cooking' was 1 and a half lightly toasted bagels - but the girls who brought it to the table were friendly. Bagels were good. Soup was rich and hot. A little surprised at the frozen meatballs and lack of orzo but otherwise a wonderful broth. Coffee - though small - was excellent. The entire atmosphere was "different". No background music and staff talking in loud whispers actually made it uncomfortable and we were glad to finish and leave. Our meal was just under $18. We found out later that some friends had been in over a week prior and were also told the coffee machine was down. All in all, a little disappointing. I won't rush to go back."
