I go to Gyu Kaku almost every week and order the exact same thing: A5 Wagyu short rib. However, what I was served this time was definitely not A5 wagyu. Being someone working in the meat industry, I am pretty positive I can identify if a steak is A5 wagyu or not and this certainly was not despite the manager's claims. restaurant was not busy and we came around 17 clock for our reservation. hostess was not pleasant and was on the phone all the time. it took 15 minutes to take place, although we have a reservation for 5 people. After we had set ourselves, we waited 30 minutes, then we finally had to discard each staff to ask for our server just to take our drink order. our server did not come for another 15 minutes, and at this time... "Seating is tight and it's a hole in the wall but food was worth the travel from Maryland. We ordered the Margarita Pizza and the campeanelle. Service was great and accommodating. First off, the sauce. On point! It has a freshness and zest that brightens all their dishes. The zing of tomatoes made my mouth salivate as I am eating the food. Second, the pasta and bread. Perfectly cooked and are perfect vehicles for the sauce. The pasta had chorizo shavings on top which added a salty n smoky profile which was to die for. There was a perfect balance rather than an overwhelming oiliness I generally know of."
