We always make it a point to eat here in Tao Tao when we are in Buenos Aires. If I bless in Chinese food when I'm in BsAs, I'll come here. Be it lunch or dinner, this is the place to satisfy your fried rice and noodle cravings. Since I don't eat meat, I just order everything with Verduras (Gemüse), but often when I want the hot and sour soup, I ask it to be made with tofu. Delicious! Your menu is easy to read when you know the different keywords...Carne for beef, Verduras for vegetables, Pollen for chicken, etc. You can order beer with your meal. We tend to sit at the right section of the dining area (after entering through the small entrance of the portal at the reception) we find it quieter. Service and attention are always timely. Your servers are about what the house specialty is knowing and will make suggestions when you ask them. Tell them your dietary restrictions and they will hide the best way they can. Also here I recommend this place if you prefer to Ave Cabildo in Buenos Aires, or if you prefer a beautiful sit down menu on a beautiful restaurant for an affordable price. Arribenos Chinese restaurants are not as good as before, so I stay on this, and they never disappointed.
Tao Tao is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Argentina. In the same situation for over 40 years. All choices are really delicious, but my recommendation would be to start with the won ton of soup, then you have the General Tso Chicken, you will not be disappointed. The owners are Japanese, so they also have a really good rug on the menu! They offer an executive menu for lunch with three courses with drinks, but you need to ask for it.
This week we were there twice. There were a few different dishes. All were excellent. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the waiters went out to visit us.
Good Chinese cuisine, good service and a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Will definitely try again some of the other dishes.
He is an excellent waiter. Son of Okinawan parents, he speaks Spanish with an immaculate porteño accent. The ambiance is just right. By 10 pm it is full, so come to dine early...that is around 9:30 pm. Prices are a big high but worth every penny. Great Chinese food. Not like you'd find in a typical Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn or Brookline. The taste reminds me if what it might actually taste in Nanjing or Taipei. A must if you are in Belgrano neighborhood or if you want to regale yourself with the top flavors mile around.
