What Neil Dakin doesn't like about Bistro 197:
Pretty much all aspects of the service were poor. Even down to paying the bill. So it was a huge surprise to be served meals which were excellent. If you can sort the service out I would recommend to anybody. As it is I would hesitate to return and would definitely only go at a quiet time. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch View all feedback.
Nice location with balcony seating area if weather permits. Friendly service and we all enjoyed our 3 course dinner. Well presented and would recommend and return. Thanks.
Lovely food, best I've had in a long time, 3 courses and each as good as the others, highly recommended and definitely worth a visit
This is always excellent, I visit often with friends and family. Lunch and breakfast, faultless. Varied menu, lovely staff. Value for money and a great facility in our city. In a beautiful park next to the town hall with spectacular views.
This is a place I have wanted to visit for so long and I'm afraid to say it wasn't what I thought it would be. Met my wife for lunch here and I really fancied the all day breakfast. My wife had the cheesy chicken...burger. Our food came and upon first impression it looked good. 2 sausage, 2 egg, 2 bacon, 2 black pudding, 2 toast, beans and a tomato. The black pudding is so thinly sliced that together they are the thickness of an average slice of pudding. The eggs were one on top of the other and when I moved it, the egg underneath was so overcooked it may as well have been a hard boiled egg. They other was not far off and was not very soft. 2 dips of the sausage and that's the yolk gone. Makes me wonder if the chef hid the hard boiled egg on purpose. It was tasty, but disappointing. My wife's chicken burger was very tasty but very sloppy. With 2 pint of beer and a soft drink it was well priced at £22. The location is nice, looks good inside and out, and staff were friendly. Would I go back? I'm not sure to be honest.
Fantastic breakfast yet again at bistro 197 and lovely service always have a lovely welcome here x
