Irwell's Bistro is just up the road from where I live so we go often. We've been twice in the last few months and I forgot to write it up from last time so here's both. In March, my wife, her Mum and her two... View all feedback.
What Ellie Fox doesn't like about Irwells Bistro:
I can only say that the service was very bad, our eating and drinks were almost thrown on the table, we all just looked at us, we simply couldn't get a smile from the staff, even if we didn't even pay a thank you. they, and it wasn't even busy, will not even get there worst service and bad attitude we've ever experienced, be helpful and always remember that customers have a choice. really can't say anymore if I could... I like the place , it's nice but the food is not as good as described, I ordered fish and chips and it was really greasy I couldn't finish my dish. I mean with these prices you will expect to receive at least a food that you enjoy not waste it :
Busy friendly place with lots of choice, pleasing to appetites big and small
Very average, and obscenely expensive for the quality of food and drink you get. A ham and cheese toastie (on regular sandwich bread, not even cut in half) with a very standard side salad and tiny pot of coleslaw was £9. The ham was very low quality, fatty and gristly. Jacket potatoes were around the same price and fine but nothing special at all. Greasy spoon caf quality food at about triple the price. Chips were really good to be fair, should have just got some chips each and not bothered with the rest! Drinks were also very subpar Diet Coke was about 3 quid but was just a very small glass with a bit of ice, not even the volume of a can or bottle. The iced latte didn’t have any ice in it and was barely cold, which was very odd. Service was fine, neither here nor there. None of the desserts inside the cafe are labelled but most of the staff we asked didn’t know what they were. I think this place sets their prices so high because they know they have a captive audience from the garden centre. It’s a shame this cafe isn’t worth the price, as sitting outside amongst all the beautiful plants is lovely. It’s a great garden centre, but we’ll make plans to eat or drink somewhere else nearby next time.
My friend and I went to Irwells today for brunch with our children. Although the place was clean and the food was delicious, the service and the atmosphere was appalling. A member of staff seated us in an area that we can put our prams. We got asked politely by the first waitress to move the prams in closer if we could so we did. But 3 other members of staff, grabbed our prams in an angry manner and moved them out of the way, even though we moved them to the place where we got asked to. They also, kept tutting, and muttering under their breaths. We got rushed to order our food. When we were eating our food, cutlery got taken from our table from a waitress. We got made to feel like an inconvenience. Even though they have a menu for children, it's seems that they don't accommodate for children. My friend also got dirty looks from staff whilst breastfeeding her child discreetly. Overall, its a lovely clean place that's does delicious food at an affordable price. But for our first time eating there, unfortunately we didn't have a welcoming and positive experience.
Not been for a while due to family illness but very relaxed lunch
