Taqueria El Gavilán - Calera

This is a hidden gem! I'm an Uber driver and was in Downtown LA to head to my favorite Mexican restaurant in Montebello until I saw this place. The location was convenient because I could eat there and jump on the 101 freeway and head home! When I walked in, I noticed how clean it was and it was very spacious. I ordered a carnitas burrito with two carne asada tacos. They give you the meat on the tortillas for the tacos and then you grab the packets of cilantro and onions and packets of salsa. They also serve jalapeños. Overall the food was very good and I will definitely be back!

Nothing feels better after a very productive meeting at work, then jetting off to eat here. Order the sopes and smother them with tons of green salsa. As for the burritos, they go best smothered with red salsa. The service is like lightning, so keep a moth-ear for your number.

This restaurant comes in clutch when you're seeking good Mexican food in a pinch. It's very convenient that they have a drive thru with 2 lanes. Prices are reasonable, service is good, presentation and taste are great. Can't go wrong by coming here.

Nice location very clean but food wasnt good, tacos al pastor has no flavor, the carnitas were lousy.
