we thought of Vietnamese subs and had a great experience. the staff was really friendly and attentive, eating came out quickly, and the subparts were delicious (in particular the bark meat.) we also had not expected so generous portions for the low price (chopter as a big Mac dish). we are all full and happy, even my mother, who had never enjoyed a Vietnamese sub in the past. What User doesn't like about Saigon Maxim:
we got the touching fried garnels, huh, bark meat and vegetables - it was delicious and hit the place! we also had the stir fried chicken, lemongrass and chili, which was tasteful and spicy, but not so hot that they could not enjoy it. it was just the right amount of spiciness. yum! whenever I visit calgary again that this is on my list to get back. While traveling around Canada, I had the opportunity to try familiar dishes and compare them to the ones I have back home. I used the Yelp App to find a good Pho restaurant in Calgary, and ended up trying the Rare Beef Pho and Satay Pho. The egg roll was a bit disappointing in terms of filling, but still tasty. The Satay Pho was large and had good flavors with a nice spicy kick. However, the Rare Beef Pho did not quite meet my expectations. The beef was fine, but the soup base was watery and lacked the rich, fragrant flavors I look for in a good Pho. Overall, I would still consider returning if I find myself in Calgary again. I give it 3.5 stars. Cheers!
I have to admit that I am not very familiar with Vietnamese cuisine, except for Pho. I ordered five dishes from this restaurant, picked them up, and brought them home. To my surprise, I realized that it was a DIY experience as I received extra bags and dishes filled with rice, noodles, sprouts, sauces, and I had no idea which ingredients went with which dish. The chicken in sate sauce and the chicken fried rice were delicious, but the rest of the dishes were disappointing.
This restaurant has terrible service and the food was well below average. The waitress was impolite and even forgot one of our main dishes, despite there being only two of us. We were made to wait for a long time, and when the waitress finally brought tea, she forgot to bring tea cups as well. The beef satay pho tasted like it had been mixed with a lot of peanut butter, making it thick and pasty, which was very unappetizing. This experience was extremely disappointing compared to the positive reviews we had read before coming here, leading us to believe that they might be fabricating positive ratings for themselves.
This Vietnamese restaurant is fantastic! The owner is friendly and welcoming. My family and I have never been disappointed with the food, and we have visited multiple times. Whether dining in or getting takeout, this place is a great choice. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable. Be sure to give it a try!
Saigon is the ultimate Vietnamese dining experience! The dishes are incredibly flavorful and generously portioned, especially considering the prices. The restaurant is spotless and the service is top-notch, with all staff members working together to ensure a fantastic dining experience. The wait time for food is minimal and the quality is always consistent. Some must-try dishes include the Deep Fried Pork Spring Rolls, Chicken or Beef Salad Rolls, Vietnamese Submarine Chicken or Beef (which is a full sub), Vermicelli with Spring Rolls, Vermicelli Charbroiled Chicken and Spring Rolls, Curry Tofu Vegetable Soup with Vermicelli, and Satay Veggie Noodle Soup (with the option to add chicken or beef). If you opt for delivery, be prepared for a longer wait time - it may be best to pick up your order or dine in at the restaurant.
