What User likes about The Champion Of The Thames:
we were greeted with a very warm greeting when we went through the door, of the friendly and knowledgeable barman. He offered expert advice on the current selection of the available ales and I was not disappointed by his recommended ale. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay for him, as we would have stayed happy all night if we were in the situation. the clientele were varied, from the expected fresh students of... What Wjgerry doesn't like about The Champion Of The Thames:
Popped in with a couple of friends on Saturday evening. We were stood at the bar having a drink. The barman then kept asking us to move. We were fine with this until I realised he was just doing it so a group of his friends could sit at the bar. So we basically being pushed about to keep his friends happy. There are plenty of great pubs in Cambridge so why bother take the risk with this one View all feedback.

Always visit here when in Cambridge. Love the staff, the atmosphere and the beer, not to mention the best Aperol Spritz outside Italy!

The pub is quite small, 2 rooms. The side room has a very small snug/alcove for 2 people. Staffare friendly. Well kept real ales from thee Greene King Stables.

"Absolutely incredible Through my whole stay in the UK I’ve never enjoyed such an experience when it comes to dinner. This authentic North African restaurant just hits all the bills Great place, great decorations, amazing friendly staff and Saharan experience. We have tried their appetizers dish which is basically a platter of dips (Spicy Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, beans with herbs, beetroot and salad with an addition to chicken stuffed sambousa topped by powdered sugar and almonds which is a pleasure to your taste buds. The main courses I have ordered were Hunny Glazed Half chicken (very sweet and Highly recommended), and the Beldi tajin which is my favorite, it comes with generous portion of Couscous, mix them together and here you go We ended it by ordering a Moroccan mint tea which is exactly what you need after a heavy and delicious meals"

"I used to love this place when I lived in Cambridge, so I went back to the other day to see if it had changed. The food was still totally delicious and the service was friendly and fast. The smell of the meat roasting on the open grill is amazing. We saw some regulars come in and be greeted by name, shown to their regular table and served their regular drink, all a good sign for a restaurant. My only quibble (why do I always have to have a quibble? is that they charge 60p per pita bread, which seems steep for bread. On the whole, though, lovely, friendly and delicious."
