"I am writing this review more than a year after visiting the place in February 2016, I just remembered this taquería in Tecate and had to write the review, and I am not even that hungry right now, it was just that good. We had burritos with steak and cheese. The meat was fresh and grilled to perfection with that nice charbroil tasted. The guacamole was perfectly balanced between spicy, sour, creamy and salty. The salsas were excellent. Percectly enjoyed with a Mexican glass bottled coke and some fresh cut radishes. After eating one very cheap burrito (80 pesos=5 dollars) my tastebuds wanted one more, but I was completely full."

"Walking in, this place is just what I like. The decor is intimate and modern. The music is smooth. I hate loudly places where you cannot enjoy properly your meal.The service was great. The server was knowledgeable and attentive. He really help us understand the menu, specially, all the wines and brews choices from the region. Overall, a great experience! I would definitely recommend it. I will for sure come back for some more Valle de Guadalupe wine tasting and delicious food!"

"Five of us drove from San Diego to Tecate on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend for dinner at Amores, almost a year after our previous visit (reviewed). The table d'hote menu was a bit different: we now had a choice of a 4-, 5-, or 8-course dinner, an entree option was available only for the 4-course meal.I won't describe the dishes themselves, as the menu changes daily, but as before, the food was excellent and beautifully prepared. Service was prompt and continuous, but there was no pressure to move us out. In fact, we spent nearly 2.5 hours to leisurely dine.This time, we had several individual glasses of house-made sangria, and even with the wine the cost was $32/person not including tip -- well worth it.BTW, when we told our server we'd been there before and had given highly-positive reviews on TripAdvisor, he was appreciative but told us that some online reviews had marked Amores down for its "atmosphere". The place is basic: it's in a narrow cinderblock building. You walk through the kitchen to the dining room, which is painted white with some dried vines at ceiling level to offset the starkness, with white tablecloths and napkins, and white plates and bowls.If you're coming here for a "romantic/intimate" atmosphere, you're in the wrong place. You come to Amores for the food."
