Valentine 's Day Dinner and price disappoints. We have been to the Red Store many times. The chef owner, Lucas, is trying to put this restaurant on the map and was a James Beard Award Nominee in 2014. We came away from the 2014 Valentine 's Day dinner thinking wow . For the price of $65 person including tax and gratuity the multi course small plate meal was creative, inspired and delicious. The first course in 2014 was an excellent cheese selection with generous pieces of cheese to be shared. This years first course was a few pieces of of thinly sliced bread (good) and tiny bits of cheese for do-it-yourself crudites (not good). The rest of the meal was very good but less inspired and yet the price had jumped to $95 per person with tax and gratuity, a 45% increase.. (it is BYOB so this does not include wine cost) We will likely go back to see if they come back to earth but there are other fine dining restaurants in Cape May that are as good and less expensive.
