"We sat, we ate, we loved all first courses; liked main one; disagreed with dessert. Sitting in here, was warming up heart as well as hands, feet and body. Indeed, this was a sad rainy and freezing evening. So the friendly welcoming by nice hosts, with good armchairs and a excellent first drink, was really timely. There was a menu to tell us there was no! We wouldn 't choose or even know, at first, what the chef had prepared for us. The chef came to introduce him and his ways to do, and be sure we had no specific intolerance. Then began a wonderful initial bouquet of delicate and refined dishes; We loved surprising tastes, but immediately excitingly developing through new sensations and discovering. And so surprised with extra colored and rare vegetables: black carrot and violine potato from Brittany, so surprised by mere invention and good new taste. The main dish at last arrived. It was canette , a piece of roasted duckling, perfectly still rose not too cooked), and thus very tasty.. But this is the first limit to the one sole proposition menu we had : This duckling was excellent, but neither my wife, nor me do like duck. We would never have chosen this as for main dish. The dessert was in the same way, an obligation to be fond of chocolate. and vanilla. This was, even for me , who likes black strong chocolate, something too heavy at that time, with again creamy sauce, and creamy chocolate. I appreciated the composition of that cake always very delicate and fine, but it was too much. My wife never could eat black chocolate in her life. She even tried, on that evening , but .... could not at all. I would have liked something fresh and with fruits, maybe a mix of fruits confits and light gateau, or fresh ananas and marmelades, or I Do Not Know What , that would have been not a concluding end to previous dishes, on the same creamy line , but an ouverture , an opening to a new freshness, a renewal of our taste, an open window to a light ending. As a matter of fact, this marvelous impression of opening on something brand new, we had it 3 times in the beginning, why not at the end? Thank you, anyway, for that real fine experience, to both people working here , in the Auberge de l 'Abbaye, and for their permanent care"
