The best fast food in Châlons, Mc Donald is for the weak! Employees are effective and everything is good in the Colonel's sandwiches. There are so many choices...

"We arrived late in Chalons, so by the time we got out of the hotel to eat it was past 8.30pm. Disappointingly, two places on the square outside our hotel weren’t interested in serving us. We started to weigh up a takeaway kebab from across the square – not what you want on the last night of your holiday (don’t get me wrong, we love kebabs. Just not on the last night of a holiday in France! . But then I glanced down a side street and spotted people sitting outside the Chaudron Savoyard. We approached and it seemed like the gathering was a private party – indeed it was – the birthday of one of the staff members. I was about to turn round when they shouted to me and told me that no problem – we can serve you food. And they did – a magnificent tartiflette and a brilliant homemade nougat glace (my wife’s favourite and she declared this one the best she had ever had . All washed down with excellent red wine en pichet. But what will make this one of those evenings that will stay in the memory for ever was the warmth of our hosts. We became impromptu guests at the party, joining in the conversation and singing along with the guy who had brought a guitar. And at the end of the evening we were served up with large and very alcoholic Irish coffees on the house. The point is – they didn’t need to do any of this – diverting from the party to serve just two covers – and to holidaymakers, not locals – so unlikely to return for a year (which we certainly will do . Above and beyond and what had looked like being the worst evening of the holiday became the best one. If I could give six stars, I would."
