"Went here with friends for a celebration meal, hoping for something special but it was dreadful. The restaurant is nicely decorated and quaint but that is the best bit.I can only presume that those that have rated it Excellent had a very different menu to us. Maybe we were just unlucky on the night but as there is no choice whatsoever, we were lumbered with it.Starters of artichoke, whelks and large cubes of beef fat(!) was not a great way to kick off. Then cold, runny, apparently fried, egg with eel, then the main course of veal - which was passable. Don't go here feeling hungry because there is not enough food to satisfy a manly appetite, even though you take a 4 or 5 or 7 course option. The best bits were the amuse-bouche and the grapefruit and coffee sorbet. The dessert was fine. We have all lived in the Perigord for over 10 years so know & love the perigordine food but this felt like the chef was mixing flavours and ingredients just to be "arty". Not to our taste at all. I think you have to be a very adventurous diner to come away happy."

"I recommend the sour massage that is enveloping and deep; ideal to relax the body and the mind. The more helène is in small care, he did a lot of good to take a massage break with you helène. Thank you!"

"Chez Nico is close to the cathedral but slightly out of the way. The menu is on a chalk board with around 5 starters, 5 main courses and 5 desserts. Nico himself was n the kitchen. We felt all our dishes were well cooked and...were excellent. We both had lentils with boiled egg and salad to start. For main course I had veal ‘noix de veau ‘ and my partner had cod. I then had room to have a cheese plate to help me get through the excellent red wine."

"Izba is a veggie oasis in the Dorgogne, which is otherwise a desert for vegans and lacto-vegetarians. After spending five days traversing the Dordogne eating nothing but salads, bread, and the occasional cheese-free pizza, it was a heartwarming delight to be greeted upon entering Izba with the question, Are you vegetarian or vegan It gets better: Izba uses all organic ingredients, mostly local, and they make everything from scratch. Even their seitan is homemade. The wholesome and inventive food takes influences from across Europe and further afield. (Note: It seems the menu changes periodically, so what you see on the website may or may not reflect what's currently being served There were vegan options for all courses: appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. The zucchini galette with mushrooms was particularly scrumptious, and the strawberry with oat-milk pudding dessert was heavenly. Given the high quality of the food, it's rather impressive that they're able to keep the prices so low starting around 8 euros for a set meal. The owner is a warm, friendly gentleman who speaks English (as well as French, of course) and clearly cares about his guests and wants them to be happy. All in all, a very pleasant experience worth the drive from the southern Dordogne. And, while you're in Périgueux, don't miss the chance to take a walk around the pedestrian-only historic center of the town, with its massive Byzantine cathedral and charming cobblestone streets all just a few blocks from Izba. Enjoy! :"

"A warm atmosphere, we were welcomed by a charming hostess with a delicious little English accent. The menu is very sought after while remaining from the terroir. The plates are copied and well presented (pleasure of the eyes and pleasure of the palace). Don't hesitate to make a tour, but book it."
