What Elle Z likes about Carmine's:
I met my friend for a light lunch before they close tomorrow for renovation. She got the Carne asada, and loved it. The meat was like the side of a cow, there was so much. Huge plate of food. I got the Rosebud gluten-free Fish Salad.Calamari, octopus, shrimp, scungilli, Italian vinegar, peppers, celery, garlic, lemon vinaigrette for $26.75. Well worth it, IMHO. One gigantic shrimp sat on top. Beautifully presented and... View all feedback. What Dan Reamer doesn't like about Carmine's:
Overall this place was average for downtown Chicago. The food was decent with good portion sizes. The layout of the restaurant is really weird as big as it is. The service was definitely subpar. We didn’t order drinks and we certainly paid the price. I hate when servers do this.Vegetarian options: YesParking: Valet is the best option View all feedback.

read moreCarmine's in downtown Chicago offers a mix of average but decent food with good portion sizes, highlighted by the delicious stuffed mushrooms. There were some complaints about subpar service and odd ambiance, but overall, the staff was described as attentive and friendly. The restaurant may benefit from a renovation, but customers seem to keep coming back for the great food, especially the chicken parm and rib eye steak. Vegetarian options are available, and valet parking is recommended. Despite some mixed reviews, Carmine's appears to be a popular choice for those seeking a classic Chicago dining experience.
