"Had simply a delicious experience from leesm’s garden. we had vegetarian and meat options. the duck was by far the best I've eaten for years. all eating was fresh and hot with many great aromas and not salted over. will be my new favorite."

"Came in mid week for a family birthday and to start with we were the only ones there. Both staff on duty very friendly and happy to help in any way. Food was brilliant and attention to food intolerance was spot on. More people came in later on and the atmosphere remained the same, peaceful, welcoming and a genuinely good local pub. We’ll be coming back again for sure."

"On arrival at around 1pm we were told there was a wait for 45min for food and that some choices were off the menu. Thought about going elsewhere and wished we had to be honest. It turned out that around 30-40% of the menu wasn 't available and so with limited choice i ordered something i wouldn 't normally and my wife had 'catch of the day '. The menu was priced a little high ie £18 for fish and chips. Really? Sometime after ordering i was informed that the dauphinoise potatoes from my choice were not available and that i would get roast potatoes! So i had limited choice to start with and then a make do meal. What?? My venison was just luke warm and my wife was quite disappointed with her fish dish. All in all a spur of the moment treat for us was an expensive and disappointing one. The staff didn 't ask how the meals were with opportunities to do so. I believe they knew the meals were not of value and were afraid to ask. A real shame."

"We visited today after finding out our favourite cafe in town has permanently closed. So were looking for the next best thing. Sadly Gartons wasn't it. We were pleased that it was dog friendly and took a seat by the window. It was a little snug in there but ok. We ordered our coffees which were fine and then when the coffee came ordered food. The menu had a good choice of things on it. It wasn't particularly busy but we waited 45mins for 3 orders of waffles. I was expecting some thing pretty delicious having taken that long but was very disappointed. The waffles were more like churos. They were dry and very sweet and almost like they had been deep fried. 2 of us had bacon and maple and 1 poached egg and spinach. The poached egg and spinach just really didn't go well with the sweet waffles. The bacon and maple were extra sweet and just dry. They came with a small salad garnish. For nearly £8 per portion I felt that was very steep for the quality and portion of the dish. The cafe was clean. Staff polite. And situated in a lovely place. We will probably only have coffee and cake next time if we visit."
