The staff receive mixed reviews, with some being friendly and helpful, while others are rushed and prone to mistakes. Overall, Chilango seems to cater to those looking for a quick and tasty bite at a higher price point. If you're in the area and craving Mexican food, it might be worth a try, but beware of the additional charges for guacamole.
If you have exhausted all other lunch spots in the City and have no regard for value then Chilangos is the place to go. Prepare to be up sold several times in the 30 seconds they take to prepare the burrito, on meat and guacamole and accompaniments. During said 30 second prep it will be tossed to 3 different people. The same level of care in constructing could have been achieved if they were all wearing boxing gloves. The meat portions are not worth the journey, the salad is a bit of Lettuce, the taste of cheese doesn’t even register. It’s around £8. I have had on the spot fines that were better value for money and more enjoyable
Member of staff even told me they have been re-trained to give tiny meat portions! Use Chipotle instead
I walked past Chilango this morning and decided to try it for the first time for lunch. I got the pork belly box how utterly disappointing! Rice, with the merest handful of meat, some lettuce with black bean and chilli sauce slopped across the top, and a sprinkling of cheese. The box wasn't even filled as shown in their in store pictures (although that could be because most of the stuff being splattered across the rice never quite made it into the box). While it was tasty enough, for the princely sum of £7.95 (a tablespoon of guacamole would have been £1.50 more), it was certainly not at all worth it. Needless to say, I wont be returning... there are so many other good food places that this one can quite happily be struck off the list.
Love the food here, I come here for lunch with colleagues and they are always on par! I always get the pork belly and it tastes delicious, also never miss out on the guac!
Visited here in need of a lunchtime burrito fix. Ordered a chicken burrito. The amount of meat was ridiculously small, a common problem in a lot of London lunchtime places lately. The Burrito itself was stuffed with loads of the cheaper ingredients, but the meat was very paltry (no pun intended! The spicy sauce was good, it had a real kick to it. One member of the staff was particularly kind and friendly, even asking how I was. But the others were very rushed, even though there was no queue when I visited. And now on to the kicker the cost. Burrito with chicken and guacamole and a bottle of water £9.85!!! Jeez, someone is making a lot of money here. I was just left disappointed, and won't be returning!
