Loved the food. Everything was so fresh. Highly recommend the guacamole starter it was delicious! They have a specific vegetarian/ vegan menu so if that?s something you prefer, make sure to ask for it. They have a lot of options for vegetarian/vegans. I had the spinach and mushroom enchiladas which were really good. Portions are decently sized I was quite full by the end of the meal so unfortunately couldn?t try the... View all feedback.
What Sam Horine doesn't like about Fonda:
Food was good (except for the smoky red picante) but the Manager was really rude. We (table for 2) were there for a little over an hour and had just paid the bill. He came to our table to tell us we needed to leave because he had another group coming for dinner 10 min later. We weren't ordering more drinks or lagging behind. We were literally getting ready to leave. Meanwhile, the place was empty and another group ne... View all feedback.
I really enjoy going to Fonda for Happy Hour. They give you big portions for small prices. The guacamole is always consistently delicious and i absolutely in love with their chorizo quesadillas. Just talking about it makes me hungry for more. The selection of drinks for the happy hour menu is great as well. The only thing is the bar is super small and they only offer happy hour service at the bar, I would love for them to accommodate those that cannot find a seat at the bar.
The best restaurant in town! I am so happy that I get to discover this restaurant because their food tastes so good! My mother and I enjoyed our food so much that we had a hard time finishing it because their serving is so big and knowing it's very affordable! Very highly recommended!
I find it de rigueur to begin with a margie at Mexican restaurants, as we did at Fonda, ordering their Cadillac $16) with a salted rim. That’s Maestro Dobel Reposado tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. Fonda is one of chef and cookbook author Roberto Santibañez’s New York restaurant.
Have been there a few times now and have never had a bad experience. Came here once and sat at the bar, and recently moved in the area and have fully dined as well. The food is excellent, the drinks are well made, and the service is superb no matter where you're sitting. The atmosphere is nice, with a very homey feel. Basically, there's just not a bad thing say. Can't wait for this to be a staple in the many restaurants we love in the city!
I love the food at Fonda, but unfortunately I won’t be returning. I’ve enjoyed their enchiladas suizas more times than I can count- but when I learned they were increasing the price of the same dinner by $10, they lost me as a customer. They now charge $5 for rice and $5 for beans- which used to be included. Enchiladas without rice and beans are not a complete meal, as far as I’m concerned! So it amounts to almost 50% price increase for same meal. I understand the need to increase prices in the age of inflation, but that is excessive. So sorry because I will miss their fantastic food.
