What Darlene jackson likes about La Isla:
Great Latin Puerto Rican and American food. Located on East 149th near Lincoln Hospital and CVS, long lines most of time. The pig is their pleasure from the ears to the feet , including the stomach chittlings Yes!. The fried pork is my favorite. Oxtails on Saturdays and rice and beans and rotisserie chicken Everyday. What Alfredo D doesn't like about La Isla:
The lonche (lunch special) of pernil/pork, rice and beans was a large serving but bleh. The cuchifrito is NASTY. I got frituras (fried Puerto Rican comfort food). The empanadas were skinny, the beef was NASTY and tasted of vinegar and the alcapurias were all dough , not made with the traditional ingredients and the meat was the same nasty vinegar tasting beef . All the food I ordered was not good!
Food is always fresh. I've tasted other places, by far this is one of the best places to get rotisserie chicken and potatoes.
