"I try to eat at Elliot's about five or six times a year. What sets them apart from other BBQ places is their unique approach—it's clear that they prioritize quality and customer satisfaction, as they've managed to stay in business thanks to a loyal customer base. Unlike many places that rely on bottled BBQ sauces with various seasonings, Elliot's keeps it simple.
While the quality of the meat can vary from week to week, they generally serve good food. I particularly enjoy their freshly cut fries, which remind me of a visit to Kennywood. Depending on the time of day and how long the food has been cooked, the ribs and other meats can sometimes be overcooked. However, overall, I think Elliot's is a very good, yet not exceptional, place to eat, and it's particularly affordable.".
I’ve never had a complaint about the friendly wait staff, who seem to have been there forever, and I’ve always left satisfied with my meal and the bill. I’ve visited when the place was packed and when there were only a few tables occupied. On occasion, I've arrived too late to get the daily special, and I’ve dined there with just one friend, as well as with large groups that had to wait for a table. Regardless of the circumstances, I've never been disappointed. I consistently leave feeling satisfied with both the meal and the price. I won’t claim that Elliott's is the best grill you'll ever experience, but I will say the variety of sauces is excellent, and the meat is always cooked perfectly and tender, with generous portions. I've also really enjoyed their chicken wings; they are seasoned just the way I like them, and come in an ample size. My favorite sauce is the one they call "heavy weight," which I get on everything except the wings. It has a nice, spicy kick that’s bold without being overwhelming. The side dishes are always good too, especially the excellent coleslaw and really tasty fries. They offer beer, which is a must for enjoying a good grill. Though the bar area at Elliott is small, they do have a selection of beers, and sometimes they even feature an interesting variety, although the tap selection is pretty standard, including my favorite, Yuengling. The place is obviously a bit old, but it’s clean. Despite my frequent visits, I’ve never encountered a dirty dish or glass, and the restrooms are always tidy. I've never felt uncomfortable due to rude customers or staff; everyone is friendly, enjoying good food while watching a game on an old-school TV. As I drive home on Saturday nights, I always think about stopping by again.
