What gardenofengland likes about A Esquina Do Magalhaes Cafetaria E Pastelaria:
Staying at the hotel nearby we had an early evening snack. Staff were very friendly and seemed pleased my husband ordered a francesinha... We hadn't a clue what it was but he will try anything. I ordered a basic burger! The food was very quick to arrive well cooked with plenty of fresh garnish on my burger and a very nice local white wine and beer. Now for hubbys food. It looked like a Croque-monsieur or more accurat... View all feedback.

What southerntraveller49 doesn't like about A Esquina Do Magalhaes Cafetaria E Pastelaria:
I just went for breakfast, so I don´t really have information about other meals served here, but I think this is a good place for having a traditional breakfast, light lunch or snack. Big quantities, good prices, clean place, fast and friendly service. View all feedback.

"Another popular restaurant in Coimbra. Very good traditional food. We shared a dose of fish, served cold, with cabbage and potatoes, with half a bottle of red wine followed by deserts 12 euros. It is a lively, compact restaurant with seating for about 20. Freindly Service. Parking is located on the steep road, parking is tight, so you may need to drive further away."

"Drawn in by the €10 menu and good reviews we weren’t disappointed. Soup/bread, beautifully cooked sardines with veg and boiled potatoes, egg flan, very tasty house red and a coffee to top it off, oh and a bottle of water. How refreshing to visit a tourism hot spot without being ripped off! Really decent young waiter who served us promptly made for a great meal."

"The food and service greatly exceeded my expectations. I especially loved the rich textures of the food, for example the breading on the fish, which were a nice change from boiled potatoes. We asked about wines and our server disappeared and returned with four open...bottles for free tastes. The chocolate mousse with olive oil was a big hit with all four of us."

"I hate to give out 5 stars (as not to reveal my personal favorite) but this is the only restaurant in Portugal that I keep coming back to. Always fresh fish, always abundant potions. Excellent meat dishes. It’s not a fancy decor kinda place, you could easily skip it walking by, but that is the point. Waiter Pedro remembered me eating there months later."
