"I was a little concerned given some of the very critical reviews, but we had a FANTASTIC experience seated on the top floor where they served the Officina menu, which offers more cuts of meat and seems like an absolute steal for 50 Euros. The steak tartare was better than any we have ever had. Other excellent cuts were the beef belly, the Etruscan cut (like hanger steak), and the Bistecca Florentino (t-bone). These were all juicy and delicious. The Panzanese cut lacked flavor and was a bit chewy, but still good. Came with very drinkable Chianti. And the olive oil cake was also delicious. Would go back in a heartbeat. I see people complain that he doesnt use the famous Chianina beef. Well we tried that the night before, and while it looked beautiful, it was too tough, not tender and lacked flavor. Which is why Cecchini doesnt use it!! And our fellow diners were overwhelmingly Italians. We sat with a charming couple who had driven that morning from Turin. So not mobbed by ignorant tourists like me (although I live in NYC and we know a thing or two about steak)."

"Had our last dinner in Tuscany here and really enjoyed it....a typical rustic meal. It has good veggie options too. I had the taglioni pasta with shaved truffles, white beans with rosemary and spinach with garlic and all were delicious. My husband had the Florentine steak with roast potatoes and it came with lots of nice condiments including a sweet mustard and a peppery local olive oil. The chianti from the hotel vineyard was also great. Polite and friendly staff. Reasonably priced."

"My wife and I went for lunch, seeing as it was rated very highly. We ordered beef tartare, eggplant with burrata, and the truffle pasta. The beef tartare tasted spoiled and was inedible- after taking one bite I put it aside as I felt as though I was going to be sick. It looked more like finely chopped hamburger meat that was close to room temperature. The eggplant with burrata was soggy, with the water from the burrata spilling over the plate. Finally, the pasta was basically a spaghetti version of macaroni and cheese with a mound of shaved black truffle on top. We ate about half of it and then promptly asked for the check, wanting to remove ourselves as soon as possible."
