What NorthumberlandJulieR doesn't like about Golden Lotus:
One of the worst eating experiences ever. The prawn crackers were lovely, which is ironic as they were free. 3 of us ordered. We had House Chow Mein (not recommended), Pork Balls with fried rice and sweet and sour sauce (not recommended) and King Prawn Egg Foo Yung was apparently OK. I would never go back. "What a beautiful place to stay. We were at Irton Hall for two nights. The setting was tranquil, and the grounds surrounding the Hall were well kept and made an evening stroll before dinner easy, just what we needed after a long journey from our home on the Outer Hebrides. The staff were so helpful and very friendly. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was delicious. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and the ensuite bathroom with jacuzzi bath was fabulous especially after a hike up Scafell Pike! Jamie gave us a potted history of the Hall, thank you, Jamie. All in all we just couldn't fault it. We will be back."
