This restaurant in central/active New York serves the best fish bowl. The delicate fish is expertly cooked and encased in a crispy, golden crust. The mac and cheese is also delicious. This place uses homemade ingredients of good quality and has a friendly atmosphere with helpful staff. I highly recommend it. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Doug's Fish Fry:
Decent but not great. Pretty pricey even in this crazy economy. Over $17 plus tax for a fish sandwich on a hamburger roll, side of coleslaw and onion rings... And remember we're talking paper plates and plastic utensils). Fish was decent and goodsized especially on the tiny burger bun) the Onion rings were smallish, greasy and just ok, for about $5 more than thesandwich and slaw alone didn't seem worth it... Great fish place. You will spend about $20. But it's well worth it. The Cole slaw is delicious too
I have only been coming here for 30 years so I think it's time for a review! Doug's is the definitive upstate NY fish fry. Delicious food and I cannot overemphasize that they prepare your order when you order it, resulting in fresh, hot food everytime you come! Doug's seafood sourcing methods are well known so I won't dwell on it except to say that it works! Great fish fries and slaw, as the lord intended it. Also, don't sleep on the Tuesday clams!
Staff is always on top of it and kind in their ways! Quick to answer any questions. Great job
The scallops are not as good as they used to be. I was surprised by the BIG rise in the cost. Used to be a must visit when we in town, this last visit was disappointing.
Food was amazing. Fries and onion rings are all hand breaded well worth 45 dollars for 2 fish dinners definitely will be going again
