Located behind Spaeth Lumber (so it is easy to miss), this unobtrusive but attractive Corvallis icon survived the pandemic days. Reminiscent of restaurants in Southern California, the decor is Spanish mission, replete with Mexican pottery, tiles, and frescoes. Plenty of standards on the menu as well as personal specialties, the food is not so much unique as it is comforting, familiar fare. The service is exquisite ev... View all feedback.
What Jim Baumgartner doesn't like about El Sol De Mexico:
This is good Mexican food for people who don't like spicy food. I think it is too bland—like most Mexican restaurants in Corvallis. Now that they charge extra for using credit card, I'll probably stay home and cook my own family recipes that are more flavourful. Why is there so much bland Mexican food that looks and tastes the same in Corvallis? Lots of competition for blandness. How does anybody stay in business? (N... View all feedback.
We went for a birthday dinner! Worst experience ever! Lady at the front desk never greeted us! The guy working at the bar was rude to one of our friends literally told her he couldn’t help with serving a shot she requested and told her to go back to her seat!!!! We were so close to leaving I swear! We are definitely never going back
Picked up a GrubHub order. It was ready when I got there. I appreciate that.
I’m giving this 5 stars because I know it deserves it but PLEASE. Play music in the restaurant!! The ambiance is almost perfect with how well decorated the space is, and I love the food, but the eerie silence in the restaurant when it’s not busy creates a really strange atmosphere and makes it a little weird to sit in at. We unfortunately had to leave before ordering anything today due to an emergency popping up but last time we came in it was very nice, food was great : but both times it was very quiet! I think music would really help the ambiance of the restaurant.
The food is always delicious, a bit expensive, but you get LOTS of food. One of our favorite place to order out.
Best Mexican food I've eaten since Texas. Large portions, great taste, and some of the best salsa I've ever eaten.
