We came for dinner on a Saturday and all tables were booked in the main hall however they managed to accommodate us in the other room where people were watching football. The Catherine Wheel is the only pub in the “prettiest village in England”. We went for a birthday lunch. The staff were very friendly and efficient so we were not kept waiting. The food was somewhat mediocre. The beef and ale pie was okay-ish, tasty and full of meat but with a hard pastry crust. The accompanying vegetables were canned and watery.
