Ivy - County Durham

I came to buy a playhouse for my three grandchildren, and ended up buying one! I was very happy with my purchase and decided to stop in at the café nearby. I was pleasantly surprised by the very friendly staff and the delicious homemade meals that reminded me of my mother's cooking, especially on a cold January day. The mince dumplings with vegetables were a highlight among a great selection of dishes and desserts. I was also impressed that they had a drink license. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience.

Our first visit to this restaurant was quite disappointing. The display of food and drinks being paid for before ordering was fine, but we were abruptly told that this was not the procedure. When we ordered the pigskinette dinner, we were surprised to find that the portion was very small and the meat was difficult to see. The Bratbeef caraby I had was disappointing as well, with thin bark meat. The service was unfriendly and abrupt, lacking in proper customer relations. The food was only warm, the restaurant in need of a makeover and lacking adequate heating. Overall, our experience was disappointing and did not leave a good first impression.

This restaurant has been visited repeatedly excellent, but the service was at the rude. abruptly at the point of rest. also sourdough toast very hard, although touchy delicious

This restaurant is fantastic! I went with my mother-in-law and we both loved the steak cake. It was affordable and delicious! All of our food was served hot and the staff was excellent. The restaurant was clean and the staff was constantly busy, not just standing around. I can't wait to visit again soon!

Situated in Horns Garden Centre The Ivy Restaurant is a great place to have some delicious food. Roast beef dinner, corn beef potato pie, mince Dumplings and many more delicious mains all served with mash pots, roast pots, carrots, mushy peas cabbage...and the most delicious gravy. The dearest meal is about If you're not a big eater you can ask for a small portion. There is tea, coffee, beer, juice etc There is plenty of room for wheelchairs and the disability rest room is very spacious. I will definately be back again.
