We were just coming back from our amazing trip with Terracentric, and we were hungry! The Boardwalk really hit the spot.

we just had dinner here at the boardwalk.

"The laughing oyster is called the laughing oyster because the owner charges fine dinning prices for appalling service. We reserved three days in advance for a table outside on the patio over looking the ocean. We we seated at a table, two feet infront of a entertainer and one foot from her amp.I refused to sit there and although other tables were available on the patio we were shown a table at the rear, side of the building with a nice view of the patchy grass. After threatening to leave, the owner/chef seated us inside at a large window over looking the ocean. This was a least a descent table. The specials were mentioned but no menus given? We had to ask for them! The waitress pushed us for a wine selection prior to seeing a menu? How does a civilized person select a wine without knowing what ones eating?Bread was served with butter, four little pieces and between the three of us gone in five minutes. We ordered two appetizers, oysters in a chipotle sauce and muscles and clams in a white wine broth. Both were good. However no bread was given to dip in the broth? I had to ask for it and it never came. This is a basic fundamental when serving muscles and clams. For our mains, we ordered wasabi salmon, warm seafood salad and for my 5 yr old, fish and chips. We also ordered a bottle of wine. Now pay attention, when charging 30-40 $ per main, I expect service! The waitress attire was that of a street person not formal dinning.I had to pour my own wine, not once but all night. We were never attended to by our waitress, then, when asked by the chef, (who, by the way was not in the kitchen ever! But playing hostess, ) how dinner was? I responded by saying the food is good but the service is terrible, he just walked away with out inquiring why!!!!!This explains his attitude to his establishment He does not give a sh_t!This sums up my feelings towards the laughing oyster. The waitress doesn't care, neither does the chef/owner.Pub service, fine dinning prices.Robbery Avoid"

"Popped in on a chilly day in December while waiting for the ferry back to Comox. Had an amazing breakfast/brunch at Magpie's. At first glance of the menu I thought the prices were a little high but the quality of the food, and the portions, were excellent. The atmosphere was cozy and charming. Will definitely go back and bring some friends next time I'm in PR!"

"The Boardwalk restaurant in the scenic little town of Lund, is well worth a visit. It's a quaint place with a good bar, inside table seating and a nice patio with umbrellas and comfortable chairs around good sized tables. The service was initially slow, but it did pick up. We sat down with house supplied blankets, just in case it got cooler. We ordered drinks then clam chowder and fish and chips. The chowder was excellent. Lots of seafood in it, including a portion of smoked salmon and some octopus, and some wonderful toasted sourdough bread. The fish (lingcod, which is neither ling nor cod) was coated in a crispy, spicy batter. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. The side salad was very good, but the fries were not so fresh, a little rubbery and a lot limp. In general though, this was a good experience. The food was mostly delicious, service was friendly and mostly efficiently and we had fun looking over the Lund marina as a storm rolled in across the water. Finally, we enjoyed the fish so much, we ordered a second piece to share. Unfortunately the batter was not quite cooked even though the fish beneath was. We mentioned this because we were asked a direct question and we did nothing to seek a rebate. However, our bill was reduced. That's good service and it was truly appreciated...and it tells us that this restaurant rarely gets it wrong. It's a good place."
