"Space was very nice and guitar player added to the ambiance. Service was pretty good. Some of the food was more successful than others. Starter salad was delicious, fresh and unique in a good way. My mussels, which I ordered as an entree was so-so. It arrived at room temperature so server had the kitchen heat it up a bit. It was mostly tomato sauced; could have used a bit more white wine and garlic as proposed. Other diners thought their entrees good although nothing outstanding. It's ok for a restaurant in Vernon Hills."

"Friends bring friends to Julie Ann’s! First impression from the outside: What an adorable old ice cream truck but what happened to their sign? The inside has a charm of its own, and the variety is wonderful. I was glad to see that they offer dairy-free options since that is unusual for small ice cream stores. Note: Dairy free is not offered every day unless you include the packaged quart and pint options in the standing freezer (starting at almost $7), or a Julie Ann bar (almost $6)."

"Okay, it's been here for some time and I'm so sad we just got around to trying. The boasted chicken with a kick is fantastic. Chicken skewers are great, home fries... it's all good. Give this place a try. Can't believe I forgot to take a pic until I was done... I blazed through it.Food: 5/5"

"This is the full diner experience. Duct tape on every seat? Check. Waitress who knows every customer and yells at them (and the customers dish it out, too! ? Check. Typical diner food elevated by the atmosphere? Check. Inexpensive? Check. What did I order? Who cares. Establishments like this are getting hard to find. If I lived in the area, I'd bring my daughters every week. Fred's is a slice of Americana that reminds you of those days when everyone put in a hard day's work for honest pay. Tip your server well; she's earned it!"
